Barbados From Above
From pristine beaches and rugged cliffs to bustling cities and serene countryside.
Our drone takes flight on the shores of Worthing Beach soaring above the tranquil turquoise waters alongside the bustling Worthng area. Flip to the north, where the scene transforms dramatically: rugged cliffs, crashing waves, and a serene rural atmosphere.
Staying in the northern part of the island we explore the historic Harrison Point Lighthouse and surrounding coast.
Our next stop is Pebbles Beach where we spy the race horses enjoying a sea bath with their grooms, a regular ritual for exercise and recovery. A crowd enjoys the scene, taking in the majestic beauty of these animals.
As we head north from Pebbles, Carlisle Bay and Brownes Beach unfold before us. The turquoise waters are teeming with activity: catamarans, yachts, and glass-bottom boats bobbing along, carrying curious visitors to explore the shipwrecks below. Imagine swimming alongside sea turtles, colorful fish, and other marine wonders!
With a quick spin we’re over the boatyard at the Barbados Yacht Club and catch sight of the construction of beachfront luxury condos.
We jump over to the Garrison Savannah (where the horses we saw earlier compete) and get a fantastic view of the grandstand and track. This historic site was home to the British troops in Barbados and their influence is retained in the large cannon collection, main guard with its imposing clock tower, and headquarters of the Barbados Defence Force.
Venturing into the countryside, a whole new world unfolds. Lush green hills and serene beaches, far from the tourist crowds, await. The iconic rock formations of Bathsheba Beach stand as sentinels, enduring the relentless pounding of the waves.
We return to Worthing before flying over the capital city Bridgetown, with sights of the waterways, historic Parliament Buildings, and Independence Square park.
Our drone pilot ends by remarking “We’ll be back soon Barbados”…. a sentiment expressed by many visitors to our shores.
