Cove Bay Flyover barbados

Dramatic coastline with wind-swept trees, rugged cliffs, and the Pico Teneriffe pinnacle!

Let’s join this drone journey at Cove Bay, nestled along Barbados’ rugged north-eastern coast. This is where the island reveals its wilder, more dramatic side, a world away from the gentle turquoise waters you’ll find out west.

Below us a grove of coconut palms stands strong against the steady trade winds. These resilient trees provide welcome shade for the local cows and sheep that often graze here. Nearby, a line of hardy but wind-blown Casuarina trees sway in their own dance with the Atlantic breeze.

The coastline here is spectacular, with sharp sheer cliffs that drop dramatically to the sea below, creating a landscape that’s perfect for sightseeing and photography, though definitely not for swimming! This area was a popular route for Segway tours, which sadly no longer operate, and remains a beloved spot for hikers exploring the island’s natural beauty and for island safari tours.

The bay churns with foamy white surf as Atlantic waves roll endlessly toward shore. Orange-brown Sargassum seaweed floats in the water, a recent unwelcome visitor from the Sargasso Sea that’s become increasingly common along Caribbean shores in recent years.

As our drone glides across the bay, the distinctive Pico Teneriffe comes into view. This striking coral pinnacle with a chalky white appearance is a landmark visible from miles along the eastern coastline. Verdant shrubs clings to this rock face, defying the sea spray and winds.
