Heart of Bridgetown barbados

Soar above heritage sites, parks and squares, and stunning Carlisle Bay in our vibrant capital city.

Join us on a quick drone tour of Barbados’ historic capital city - part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site - where centuries of heritage blend with modern island life.

Our journey begins following the winding Constitution River as it flows past the main bus terminal, running parallel to the aptly (if not very creatively!) named River Road.

To our left stands The Cathedral Church of Saint Michael and All Angels, first consecrated in 1665. After a devastating hurricane in 1780, the church was lovingly rebuilt, reopening in 1789. Its magnificent coral stone tower still stands proudly, watching over the cityscape. The church’s graveyard is the final resting place of many prominent figures dating back to Barbados’ colonial past.

In the distance is the distinctive pale blue building of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the island’s primary healthcare facility.

Commercial buildings line the roads below, several topped with solar panels that reflect Barbados’ commitment to sustainable energy. Green spaces like Church Village Green and the lovely Queen’s Park provide peaceful parks amid the urban landscape.

With a gentle spin, the sparkling ocean comes into view as a reminder that on our small island, the sea is never far away! The horseshoe-shaped Carlisle Bay beckons with its soft sandy shores and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Colorful beach umbrellas and loungers dot the shore while catamarans and boats linger offshore, their guests snorkeling over the bay’s fascinating shipwrecks.

Two public squares come into focus, Golden Square Freedom Park and Independence Square, each commemorating pivotal moments in the island’s journey. Both offer respite in the bustling city and are places for reflection and education.

It’s remarkable how much we’ve captured in such a short flight, but that’s the magic of aerial drone views!
