The Incredible Island of Barbados

Showcasing the island's diverse beauty from secluded bays to vibrant coastal scenes.

Our drone adventure kicks off along the south coast, treating us to an awe-inspiring view of the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle All-Inclusive Resort and the historic castle after which the resort is named. Turquoise waves caress the white sandy shores, while swaying palms create the quintessential Caribbean panorama. Looking offshore we catch a glimpse of the reefs.. legend says Sam Lord hanged lanterns in the trees on the beach to lure ships onto these reefs where they wrecked and were plundered by Lord! A maritime tale etched in the island’s history!

As our lens pivots, hidden gems in the form of secluded bays unveil themselves along the coast, offering a serene escape from the bustling tourist hubs of the west and south. Moving east, we grace Bath Beach, nestled amidst lush green hills cascading down to a tranquil bay. Further along, Consett Bay’s jetty extends into the ocean, providing respite to the fishing boats that launch here and return with their catch.

Returning south, we unveil more hidden bays and cliffs, with a special dive into the enchanting Harrismith Beach. Here, the remnants of Harrismith House perch atop the cliffs, overlooking the nearly deserted beach where a couple strolls leisurely, accompanied only by the Atlantic Ocean’s rhythmic waves.

Our next stop is at Ragged Point, home to one of Barbados’ four lighthouses. In this area there are few beaches, with the waves instead crashing against the cliffs. This is a side of the island that many visitors are completely unaware of, especially those cocooned in all-inclusive resorts, and that’s a real pity. Once of the amazing things about Barbados is the incredible diversity packed into our mere 166 sq. miles.

Crane Beach, a renowned destination and one of the world’s top beaches, greets us with loungers and beach umbrellas provided by the clifftop resort. Its popularity contrasts with the untouched beauty of the earlier bays, creating a dynamic tapestry of landscapes.

Returning to the east coast, Cattlewash Beach unfolds - an expansive coastline perfect for leisurely walks, soaking in ocean pool, and collecting seashells.

Heading inland we soar over magnificent towering palms, with the coast beckoning in the distance. Moving further north we arrive at magnificent Cove Bay where powerful waves pound against high cliffs. The clifftop, with shading palms, is a great spot for a picnic.

A glimpse of the countryside precedes our exploration of the bustling south coast, where hotels, restaurants, and bars dot the landscape, showcasing the island’s vibrant development. Yet, amidst this hustle, Barbados’ natural allure remains undiminished.

We see this beauty and smiliar ‘development’ on the western coast where catamarans anchor offshore, bringing guests to swim and snorkel with sea turtles and explore reefs and shipwrecks.

As our drone gracefully concludes its tour along the western coast, we wrap up a splendid exploration of our diverse island - an ode to the harmonious blend of natural beauty and vibrant life that defines Barbados.
