Island Tour barbados

Discover Barbados' history on this impressive islandwide drone tour.

This well narrated video serves up impressive drone views of Barbados along with a brief history of the island.

We begin the aerial tour in Bridgetown, our capital city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here we enjoy views of historic Parliament Buildings and the waterfront. Then we head slightly north to the outskirts of the capital.

Back in the heart of Bridgetown catamarans and fishing boats can be spotted in the Careenage with a magnificent tropical beach off the left. In the distance a cruise ship awaits entry to the Bridgetown Harbour.

The old blends beautifully with the new in Bridgetown in the form of historic buildings such as the Old Spirit Bond co-existing with modern structures such as the imposing Central Bank.

Heading inland we learn of Barbados’ sugar heritage and fly over an extensive sugar cane plantation and Sunbury Plantation House which dates back to the 1600’s.

Flying over to the west coast we glide over the tranquil coastline and discover the quality and diversity of the island’s beaches.

A flyover of the Mount Gay Rum Visitors Center is a reminder that Barbados is the birthplace of rum. This view also reveals Brandons Beach, an offshore waterpark, and in the distance the West Indies Rum Distillery.

As we view the Bridgetown Port (with several cruise ships docked) we learn the fascinating history of Barbados pirate Sam Lord!

Flying over the Shallow Draught shows several catamarans waiting to take guests to cruise the coastline and swim with sea turtles. This is also the home of Atlantis Submarines.

A sunset view of the capital is the perfect way to end this drone tour of Barbados.
