Miami Beach and Oistins Bay barbados
Sea turtles, colourful fishing boats, and clear waters on the southern tip of Barbados.
We lift off near the southern tip of Barbados at Miami Beach, a popular and family-friendly spot. As the sun emerges, early risers are already out enjoying a peaceful walk or jog along the shore - always a beautiful way to start the day in Barbados.
Gliding over nearby Oistins Bay, we’re treated to a wonderful sight: a group of sea turtles gliding gracefully just beneath the surface. One surfaces for a quick breath before disappearing once more into the blue. These gentle creatures are drawn to the bay by the nearby fish market, where a steady supply of fish scraps makes for an irresistible feast.
Pulling back to a panoramic view, the bay reveals a charming cluster of colourful fishing boats, one just setting off to sea. The scene captures the easy, authentic rhythm of local life.
As the drone skims down toward the water, we can appreciate the clear waters and shallow corals. Skimming across the waves, we see gentle swells roll toward shore while the fishing boats bob calmly, unbothered by the motion.
Our aerial view once again catches sight of the sea turtles. Barbados takes their wellbeing seriously - the Barbados Sea Turtle Project works year-round on monitoring, rescue and rehabilitation, research, education, and community outreach, helping ensure these beloved creatures continue to thrive in island waters.
With one final sweep, we return to the shores of Miami Beach.
