Pico Teneriffe barbados

Take flight from this dramatic landmark on Barbados' rugged east coast.

We take flight from the clifftops at Pico Teneriffe on the island’s rugged north-east coast, where nature puts on quite a show.

As Cove Bay unfolds below, you’ll notice an abundance of Sargassum seaweed filling the waters. In recent years, this has become an increasing challenge at certain times throughout the year, sometimes disrupting fishing, sea bathing, and watersports activities along the east and south coasts.

The coral pinnacle of Pico Teneriffe rises an impressive 300 feet, with dramatic coral cliffs plunging steeply toward the bay below. It’s a commanding presence on the coastline.

The distinctive white coral cliffs in this part of the island are unmistakable landmarks. On a clear day, you can spot them from miles away, visible all along the eastern shore.

On the clifftop ahead, we approach a lovely grove of coconut trees and grassy footpaths, a popular spot for hikers and walkers who come to enjoy the amazing views and fresh Atlantic breezes.

Circling back to the Pico Teneriffe side of the bay, we fly inland over fascinating geological formations and charming rural village homes that dot this less-traveled corner of the island.
